White With Fear

These are not doodles, they are life like character drawings found in Chamo San's moleskine and I cannot stop looking at them. Each one seems to tell of a moment in time with no beginning or end, just a middle. And take note of the white marks, what perfect subtlety.

Totally Axonometric

Julien Barberousse found a way to draw us into his axonometric world by creating fantastical landscapes. The architecture and lines of color are breathtaking over the graph paper of his journal. He's collected the drawings into three zines, simply titled I, II, and III. It's nice to see the progression of his orthographic projections through each issue, so be sure to give them a look.

In the Warm Shadow of Nature

Gentle drawings by Cendrine Rovini take me back to the woods that I frequently visited when I was little.

Again I can sense the same essence of warm plants and trees that surrounded me back then. I like to imagine that Cendrine's sheets of paper have that same aroma. It's like her drawings manage to soak in to the paper and make it smell so natural that you can feel they are back with nature again.

Viliam

This is an amazing animation created by Veronika Obertova. In her own words, this is "a story of Viliam, who lives his own animated life within the real world. Childish fun turns into a problem, the problem becomes a solution. No solution is perfect though. "

Wonderfully heartfelt, I personally think we all have a bit of Viliam in us - that slight antisocial charm, that need to always have a pencil in hand, that ability to be content with life the way you see fit...Simply put, you'll love watching this.

I'm Back to Save the Universe

I can't help but love this illustration made for one of my favorite bands. The above is part of a poster created by Aldis Ozolins for a Radiohead concert that was printed using a woodcut, 3-layer silk screen on reeves bfk tan paper. Zoom out to see the whole thing.

Dreams Are Necessary

Beautiful works by Rithika Merchant. Whimsical drawings broken into tiled sheets of paper. Her art all seems to be part of the same wild dream. If you like these, then you should also dive into the "exhumed books" section of her site, where she manipulates used books, found objects and old maps into fascinating and three-dimensional compositions.

America's Favorite Pastime

William Emmert combines baseball with my favorite pastime (doodling) to create 2.5"x3.5" little masterpiece collages. He overlays old baseball trading cards with ink, paint and random strips of paper, making the end result so strikingly colorful and bold that I can't resist loving them all.
