Odd Faces and Quirky Animations

I live to find random and happy projects like this one by Momoe Narazaki, a talented graphic designer and illustrator who recently launched a fun tumblr with close to one-hundred odd faces in funny and quirky animations. Never mind cat videos, just stare at these all day.

Make-Me-Robo

Since launching our open call last week, we've been in quite the robot mood. And it seems it's not just us who have got the bug. Our good friends over at the Sktchy app challenged their users over the weekend to transform their community's photo portraits into their robot counterparts, and the results are simply awesome.

For those of you unaware, Sktchy is a really great mobile app that encourages you to draw everyday by delivering inspiring photo portraits for you to render in your own unique style. I've been a fan since its launch. Here are some of my favorite from this past weekend...

A Drawing Desk Like No Other

As a parent of two little doodlers and a daily drawer myself, I can't help but fall in love with this Kickstarter project by The Cardboard Guys. They've taken everything great about fostering creativity in a kid and magically created a drawing desk and chair made of cardboard, that's fun to build, functional to use, and best of all designed to be doodled all over. The top of the desk even comes with cubbies to store all your art supplies and built to close away when not in use.

No joke, I want one for myself. They've only got 8 days left to meet their Kickstarter goal. Support them (before it's too late) and little ones will rejoice everywhere.

From Doodle to Shoe!

As someone who draws in his sketchbook every single day, it's incredibly satisfying when an opportunity presents itself to bring those doodles to life. A little over a year ago I drew up some geometric shapes, turned them into a vector pattern, and submitted them to Bucketfeet (along with many other artists) for consideration into their Spring 2015 collection.

Bucketfeet is a brand that makes beautifully illustrated artist designed canvas shoes. They support artists from around the world, and I'm thrilled to announce that they've selected my "Asteroids" design for their catalog. It's now available for sale on their website and comes in two versions: laces or slip-on. They've also been kind enough to extend an awesome 20% discount (for my shoes or any other pair in their shop) to all Doodlers Anonymous fans, just use discount code OKAT20 at checkout.

You can become an artist for them as well. They are always looking for the next cool design, just follow this link to join the Bucketfeet Artist Network and get the process started.

Illustrated Boobies Bring Awareness to Breast Cancer

A playful and creative way to bring attention and awareness to breast cancer, the Alphabreast illustration project was created to celebrate all breasts and to keep them healthy. My favorites may be the Total Recall, Lactating, Kinky, and Femm Bot breast animations... wait, I love the Glittery, Queer, and Asymetrical ones too... and of course the pierced and inked... and... well... all the boobies are beautiful. Be sure to click on over to their website to see the bouncy animations for a cause, and consider donating $5 to F*#k Cancer and support your favorite pair of boobs. Click through and interact with all the goodies. Save the Tatas!

Tumblr of the Week:
Everything is Vibrating

I could stare forever at all the little details on Jon Carling's intricately shaded sketches. His many drawings of original creatures tap directly into my love for folklore, and I get carried away imagining what the mythology behind them would be. Carling also has a couple of whimsical yet haunting animated shorts (watch the videos after the fold) that are def worth taking a look at.

Wonderfully Charming Drawn GIFs

I've had this in my bookmarks to share for a while, and I truly regret not posting about it earlier. It's a beautiful collection of animated GIFs made with the soft lines from colored pencils. The clips themselves are these fantastically awkward loops of people doing common things. Check out the Tumblr site, I guarantee you'll fall for this project by Thoka Maer.
