Olga Ezova-Denisova started off this sketchbook by taking a walk into the woods to find something that she could bring back home and draw. She quickly realized that she wanted more, and there were things that she couldn’t physically take back with her. That’s when she decided to take her sketchbook and venture off into the woods and draw on the spot, which turned into a very important and self-enriching daily ritual.
Olga says that going into the forest to draw is a time for her to reflect on herself and connect more to what she is doing. How do I feel? What am I focused on and why? Is it easy for me to observe? To wait? These are some of the questions that run through her mind when she puts herself into a new, interesting, and quiet environment. This is so important for artists looking to expand their way of thinking, doing, and sources of inspiration. I challenge you to go deeper and place yourself in situations that you wouldn’t normally be. Who knows, you might just surprise yourself!
