I’m currently feeling sorry for a fictional character that I know almost nothing about. Thanks a lot, Guillame Singelin. He’s a French illustrator and comic author with an awesome blog where he frequently posts his hand drawn characters. I have to share the lonely space boy I recently found there, a look into the sad life of a stranded astronaut told in individual sketches. Singelin is a master at telling stories through peeks into a characters life without needing words. There’s a rich narrative behind the series of doodles that is only partially revealed through drawn details of quiet moments in his daily life. Despite the cutesy cartoony style, you see him in moments of catastrophic despair and calm loneliness. The story carries a heavy weight that tugs at my heartstrings. Someone please save this innocent space boy!
