I stumbled upon Janel Catajoy’s sketchbook while browsing Behance and her brightly colored sketches immediately caught my eye! I love how she combines her lively sketches with writing, and old receipts to create what seems to be a creative diary, doodling a window into her life. In one of her spreads, Janel writes “Growing up, I was too much of an edgy tomboy who didn’t want to explicitly admit how aesthetically pleasing I found what were typically considered feminine things” and goes on to talk about how all of that combined with her “conflicting fascination with cryptids, occult, and mythology” continues to inspire her creativity. It’s amazing what you can find when you take a closer look at a person’s work, and hearing directly from the artist about their source of inspiration never fails to intrigue me!
