(Editor’s note: This is Mason’s last post here on DA as a guest blogger. He was only supposed to contribute during the month of May, but we liked him too much and extended his stay into June. Thanks Mason! Next time, in Texas!)

I wanted to add one last post during my residency as guest blogger here to show you a little more about good old me. I guess in my time here I wanted to spread the wealth of some coverage to the creative community here in Austin. There are so many great artists and maybe in the future I can share some more.

Anyways, this is me, below.

As you can see, I’m just your ordinary thirty-something, adult living in the year 2013. I’m not perfect. I don’t make a ton of money or do anything super crazy, but I love to draw and do it very often, like every day. Somedays you feel like just sitting in the living room with a bag on your head, hoping that the art makes itself, but getting started is the hardest part.

You’ve got to do the hard work of making the first mark. Once you do that, you’ll follow with a second mark and a third. Eventually, you’ll have done more than you can count. That’s when you look at the work and think, “Man, that’s cool!” or “Man, that sucks!”

Either way, you’ll feel better at the end and have accomplished more than most people do during the day. Then you can smile and feel great!

As of right now, I’m working on making some handmade patches. I’ve made about six of them, but I can’t wait to see what the 100th looks like because I know improvement will be made along the way. You can get your own handmade patch right over here: POWER PATCHES

I hope my time here has inspired you to go find other creative friends and encourage each other to try new things with your art. I’ve found that it will make your life a bit more enjoyable, help you learn about yourself and make some good friends along the way.

Talk to you later on, Mason
