It Is Unclear

by Jamie Tao 13

A couple of weeks ago, I went into the art supplies store on my lunch hour and bought myself a pack of 8.5" x 11" graph paper. My goal is to make one drawing a day on one of those sheets of paper.

I have a habit of writing down my thoughts - a line or phrase that make a lot of sense to me at that moment. Although these lines and phrases are personal and have a deeply-rooted meaning behind them for me, they are ambiguous enough where they could mean something completely different for someone else. That's what I hope, at least. Here are a few of the drawings I have completed thus far - my thoughts on paper, in collage form.

  1. This is easily one of my favorite posts. The colors and lines are bold and play so beautifully with the text. Thank you.

  2. hey jamie.nice.i do that actually pretty often.putting my thoughts into doodles.helps me deal, in some wierd way. love the doodles. :)

  3. These are so great! I wholeheartedly agree with the "keep yourself busy" bit.

  4. I have been doing this too, I have 6 weeks off work and have done a doodle a day! great idea, loving the cut out lettering!! What pens do you use? i use 0.1 fine nib, but have difficulty buying one that lasts!

  5. the "but these too will pass" type is killlerrrrrr...

  6. my computer is covered with thoughts like this on little pieces of paper. These are beautiful. I just scored a whole bunch of graph paper from the 70's, and now I have iddeeaaassss... This makes me happy.

  7. Wow, thank you for the nice comments. Collette, I have been using the pigma graphic, micron and brush pens lately. But the micron 05 is my favorite - not too thin, not too thick.

  8. Sickening how good they are.

  9. One of the most inspiring and honest pieces of art I have ever seen.

  10. I LOVE.

  12. "the only way to be truly happy is to keep yourself busy" one is fantastic, ilove them all!
