Most doodlers know there’s something serene that comes from following the repetition of familiar patterns. I’m all swept up in the work of Katy Ann Gilmore, whose special talent is weaving faceted mountainscapes in large-scale murals. My mind has trouble wrapping itself around how many thousands of pen strokes go into the making of these complex terrains, which I thought were computer-generated when I first spotted her artwork. My favorite thing about these murals is the 3D effect they seem to have when you step away from the wall and observe from afar!
