Mari Kinovych is a graphic designer and illustrator from Kyiv that I found through her sketchbook series titled “Long Distance Relationship with Illustration”. Stylistically, I really enjoy the thin, deliberate linework and wide variety of patterns used throughout her illustrations. Her artwork so obviously plunges beneath the surface, and I find myself so intrigued by decoding Mari’s message and the feelings behind it. With a constant theme of cell phones, straight-faces, and a nostalgic vibe, things start getting a bit trippier when you notice the animal heads on human bodies, floating heads, and hidden details. I love her illustrations not only because they’re well done, but they also have a sense of mystery about them.
