Not only am I obsessed with the way Gerrel Saunders meticulously illustrates these different hairstyles, but also his message behind this particular series: “To those struggling to love and accept their natural hair because of societal pressures, remember this – straight, curly, kinky, or wavy, it doesn’t make a difference. Embrace your hair the way it is, no matter what society tells you. All hair is good hair. It’s your Crown.” It’s so inspiring to see artists create an entire collection of artwork around a particular topic that they feel so strongly towards, truly utilizing their creativity to it’s full potential. As far as his execution, the amount of detail that goes into each piece creates a wonderful texture that you can almost feel. I can’t stop zooming in on the illustrations, studying every little line in utter amazement!
