Artist BIGAWK doodled up this crew-cut kiddo on dirty foolscap while waiting for some files to print. Four years later this time-wasting scribble is still scoring with the ladies (and men, I assume) and now pushing on 230 Flickr favorites. I’d say that’s a big high-five for spontaneous art.

If you’re creative (I suppose that’s all of us, really), I’m going to assume you’ve had your share of mental blanks and where-did-all-my-talent-go meltdowns. Last semester, I pouted through them at least daily. But I’ve learnt (slowly) that it’s all about tapping into that creative instinct, like when our chubby fingers were exploring crayons and basic motor skills.

Why do you think quick scribbles (like the chubby kid up top) are so spot on? And how do we tap into that creative instinct for projects bigger than byro and dirty foolscap? Please share your wisdom with me, doodlers!
