Blurring the lines between the scientific and the surreal is Brendan Monroe’s specialty. Despite mysterious, fantastical blobs often featured, there’s something mathematical about his artwork. It feels like looking at scientific graphs, or something that would be flashing on a screen inside the Enterprise. The topography of his drawings follows methodical patterns composed with careful deliberation, but the swirvy style of the artist’s lines lends an organic flow that makes them appear to be part of his world’s natural landscape. Monroe’s enigmatic shapes achieve a look of “perfection” without seeming artificial.
