South Florida is known for many things – its beaches, diverse culture, and the weather being just a few. However, another large part of what makes South Florida so interesting and unique is the art scene. Of course, things like Art Basel and Miami Art Week help shed a light on how ingrained art is in the culture of South Florida, but there are so many small local artists who really make the South Florida art world what it is. With that being said, here are five of our current faves to check out:

Isa is an 18-year-old Miami-based artist that seems to dabble in almost everything! From painting, to mixed media pieces, and digital art – there’s something that every art lover can take away and appreciate from viewing her artwork. One of our favorite things about her more traditional work is her use of color, they bring the subject to life and seem to bounce right off of the page and capture your attention immediately. She also has a really cool YouTube channel with tutorials, timelapse drawings, and sketchbook tours. You can find all of her links here.

Cyn and Ben of Chalk and Brush are a muraling duo based out of Miami. They’ve been working on their craft in the Magic City since 2013, and their murals are some of the most fun and bright we’ve seen! If you’ve visited South Florida you’ve probably been to or heard of Wynwood Walls, a section of Miami marked by mural-lined streets. Cyn and Ben’s work pays great homage to this iconic part of South Florida’s culture by bringing their murals across state lines and sharing the engaging, fun-loving nature of these massive artworks. You can learn more about their work here.

@danitalkspoop
Maria Daniella’s artwork is a dream for art lovers and anime lovers alike! You can find everything from Sailor Moon to Demon Slayer and everything in between. An added bonus to her work? Her use of color is sure to remind you of the iconic Lisa Frank brand! Beyond the similarity, the colors themselves are breathtaking and when mixed with the subject matter, it makes for a really impressive and engaging take on anime art. Daniela Semper is a talented watercolorist based out of Miami who not only creates beautiful work on paper, but also shoes and handbags! It’s always impressive to find an artist who has mastered their craft so beautifully, but when that skill can be transferred across mediums and still have the same impact is something special. A lot of Semper’s work is nature-focused, ranging from underwater critters to flowers and furry four-legged pets. However, her portraits are equally as captivating and skilled! You can find more of her work here.

@saraschroederart
Sara Schroeder is an abstract painter who makes some of the most gorgeous and organic-feeling artworks we’ve seen in a while. From her mixed media pieces to her journal composition series, her work is incredibly engaging and at a simpler level – just fun to look at! She also shares process videos of her artwork on her Instagram, which tend to be both refreshing and relaxing and oftentimes come with a word of encouragement or motivation for those who have their own practice. You can find all of her links here.
