We’ve featured French artist Lapin many times here on DA. Every time I look at his work it inspires me to drop everything and sketch. You too will fall in love with the composition of his lines and the mass collection of sketchbooks he’s filled from cover to cover (look for yourself).

So it’s with great joy that I learned today that he plans on publishing a book (Oldies but Goldies) with his incredible collection of drawn vintage cars found on the streets. I’ll say it again, these are not drawings he’s making back in his studio with photo references. He literally stumbles across a car and can’t imagine passing it without respecting its history, so he sits down right then and there and draws it.

In his own words: “I project the dim light of those years in my book through my drawings and try to tell you the beauty behind the wrinkles, the experiences behind the broken parts and memories behind their dust so that they will be immortal.

He’s running a campaign to raise funds to print this fantastic book. Follow the link and support this project (by doing so you’ll also secure yourself a copy).
