Quotes are a powerful force. Reading the right ones can change your entire perspective on life, love, and other big deals. Weird to think that a few words can have that effect! Kate Gavino is a New Yorker who goes to book readings regularly, and isnít satisfied with just tweeting a good quote when she hears it. In her prolific Last Nightís Reading series, she sketches portraits of the authors while she is at their reading, alongside a favorite quote from the night. Itís the perfect marriage of her passions for art literature! So many of these are inspiring and thought-provokingÖ I think Iíve just been convinced to start checking out book readings around me.See plenty more Ľ See More »
I know absolutely nothing about Ben Thorley except for the following three things. One, he doodles a lot, like everyday all the time and the doodles are mostly of people's faces saying things, sometimes random, sometimes completely relevant. I love them all. Two, he photographs them in weird lighting with odd Hipstamatic photo frames. That part, I'm not a big fan of. Three, he comes from Manchester (UK).
Follow him on Twitter, it's where I discovered him.
You know him as the author of Quoteskine, a book of drawn quotes, lyrics and clever word play, and for the month of September you'll know him as our blog's guest contributor.
Lee is an up and coming illustrator in the UK that's tirelessly working to "make it" as a freelancer. He runs an incredibly beloved tumblr blog, but plans to step a bit out of that role this month to post on Doodlers Anonymous about the people and things that inspire him.
A book of quotes, lyrics and clever drawings on the topics we all love to hate or hate that we love. Lee Crutchley makes drawing fun again and we've got 144 pages to prove it.
Lee is a doodler, and he's been one since the age of 14. He's been posting drawn words on his tumblr blog for the past couple years and many of us have turned fans of the quirky, often comical and very relevant sharpie scribbles. Now they've been published into a book and we've got a signed copy for one of you to keep.
To play along, leave a comment below with your favorite quote from a movie (don't forget to also credit the film). We'll collect them all into a hat and pull one lucky winner. Comment by Thursday, January 5th and we'll announce the winner the next day.
