When Women Laugh

Inspired by Roy Lichtenstein’s Shipboard Girl, Danor Shtruzman captures laughing women in watercolor. His work shares the same cliched femininity and comic book sensibility as the pop art icon, but his use of greyscale on aged book pages adds a texture and meaning all his own. His Laughing Girl series is an unabashed tribute to happiness in a sometimes lonely world. Smile and the world smiles with you.

Change Joy

The art of Ines Seidel is gentle and full of joyful wonderment. I fell for the soft lines and watercolors brushed across recycled pages and altered books.

Member Spotlight: Kerby Rosanes

Kerby Rosanes is a doodle force to be reckoned with. No joke, the man must go through markers like I go through cups of coffee. His style is overwhelming as he completely smothers page after page with funny characters, monsters, objects, and words.

I was first introduced to his work when he sent in a submission to our second coloring book, which we gladly accepted. Follow this doodle maniac over on his blog Sketchy Stories (that updates almost daily).

AGOV's doodle style is fantastic in the truest sense of the word. His work is the the embodiment of 'classic' doodling but with an eastern european oddness that's all his own. The pieces appear to be unplanned, accidental, even mindless happenings but like any top level doodle they end up with their own special magic - It's something we all hope for in our doodling... the ones that just work... the ones you feel you got lucky with... the ones that just spark on the page. More than any other work I've seen recently, AGOV's free doodling style just makes me want to pick up a pen right away and start filling books ... I hope it does the same for you.
