Have We Met?

Are you sure? Because after flipping through the last few years of your Moleskine I feel like I now know everything about you.

Loops! is a mommy living in Brussels and she fills her sketchbooks like a diary in living color. You'll see drawn pages of her family's travels, her kid's being sick and the generally overwhelming and loving life of being a parent.

She's captured three full years and it's incredibly inspirational to see her commitment to draw almost every moment out in full color with outstanding typography and doodling skills. Good for you Loops!, keep it going forever.

Color Here and There

If you don't like polar bears or giraffes or just amazing blobs of color, you may want to look away. But that's just ridiculous. Luigi Loquarto is a master of throwing down some amazing color combos and creating beautiful, intricate drawings.

Words to Live By

I bought a large set of markers and I feel like a kid again because all I want to do is color things in. Seriously. I can't stop.

So in the spirit of our addiction to draw on anything and everything, here is some new work and words that I haven't been able to get out of my head until they've been put down on paper.

Doodle on Cotton

For far too long, my to-do list looked something like this:

1. Something important
2. Something else fairly important
3. Something I didn't finish yesterday
4. Doodle on my DA shirt

I can finally take that bottom task off of my list.

It was a few hours of mindless fun and somewhat therapeutic and I encourage you all to take some time off (because we all need it) to do the same. My tools of choice? A black marker, a needle and some red thread.

We love the submissions we've gotten so far and also love how your individual styles and personalities come through in each t-shirt. We look forward to seeing more of them and sharing them with all of you.

Fill It Up

Jeremy Pettis doesn't shy away from color and that's a great quality in a designer man. Check his doodle set on flickr. I just moved into a new apartment and I keep thinking about wanting every single one of his drawings framed, scattered and filling up my wall in its entirety. Imagine the beauty!

As an added bonus for typography lovers, Jeremy has created a typographic study for every letter of the alphabet using animals as his subject. Great stuff here. The study includes initial sketches and his developmental commentaries for each. Jeremy says, "Normally, a person's relationship with a word lasts milliseconds, or maybe seconds depending on how long and complex the word is. With this project I'm hoping to change all of this." Workshop Workshop

Last night I went to Design Miami (the sister show of Art Basel Miami) and after a few glasses of champagne, I stumbled upon this booth called The Brief and Happy Life of Workshop Workshop. Inside were a group of strangers surrounding a table with markers and papers lying all over it. The folks inside were doodling away and asking passerbys to join in. And so I did.

It was so nice to just sit around and draw with like minded people. Every so often someone came around and gathered the sheets of paper, photocopied them, and started binding them into a zine to giveaway. It was fun all around. Hello to everyone that was there last night. Here are some of the results »
