Doodles Save This News Anchor's Live Weather Forecast

A weather reporter from ABC News 4 was attempting to deliver his daily update on live TV when the computer that animates the forecast froze up. After a few minutes of small talk, the anchor team quickly doodled up a few weather icons and then throw them up onto the green screen behind him. It's a great example of improvising on live TV.

A Whole New World

Youíve seen countless pictures of these worldwide monuments before, but none quite like this. Himanshu Agrawal shows you the world through his eyes by doodling on manipulated photos of iconic landmarks in his Archi-Fracture series, making them seem like something new.

Itís a shame that photos of incredible places can start to seem mundane after you've been overexposed to them, so seeing Agrawal bring new life and humor to these places is the kick I needed to appreciate how awesome these sites actually are.

Needles and Doodles (Noodles?!)

In case my Making Monsters entry didn't make it obvious, I'll say it: I'm really into seeing doodles come off the page. Sometimes doodling can be a gateway drug to other arty addictions. For example, Robin Amy Darling makes embroidery based on her doodles!

Robin says it's "time consuming, labour intensive and considered old fashioned, but extraordinary things can be achieved with a needle and thread." You can see proof that she's 100% right on her tumblr!

Doodle My Ride

Quick, to the Doodlemobile! It all started when Allison improvised a creative way to cover up some scratches on her boyfriend's car, which he didnít mind because he was making plans to repaint it anyway. She got a little carried away and kept doodling beyond the scratches, until she had sharpied the entire bumper in one night. Needless to say, the repainting plans got trashed and the car became Allison's new canvas. About 100 hours of frenzied doodling later, they now have the most eye-catching car Iíve seen in a long time.

Bonus! Click after the fold to see a time-lapse video of Allison at work, including funny peeks at what she does during her breaks from doodling.

Tumblr of the Week: A Droid a Day

Rob Turpin's A Droid a Day project is all about proving that you just can't get tired of robots. Since August 2013, he has been posting droid doodles every. single. day. Most robots are captioned with a name or title that is descriptive of their function, which adds a touch of personality.

I stalked his blog a little bit and found that he started doodling with pen and pencil more often to stop himself from putting more thought into drawing something that looks nice rather than capturing a great idea. "Throwing in a really broad shape with the markers makes you forget about trying to create something beautiful, itís about creating a cool shape, or an interesting form." Wise advice for doodlers!

Be sure to follow his blog for tons of valuable insight. I especially like it when he shares his illustration process from initial sketch to final color.

Step Up Your Selfie Game with Doodles

Tons of girls have an Instagram account full of selfies, and Helene Mehldahl is no exception... but there's a twist. You might be living under a rock if you haven't seen Helene (aka mirrorsme) on Instagram after she blew up recently, but there's no way I can't write a post about these unique doodles.

She says it all started with her habit of writing cute messages to her roommates with lipstick on their mirrors, and before long her imagination got carried away with it. These doodles are silly and spontaneous, full of fun and personality. Thatís the DA spirit, isn't it?
