The Death of Wormboy

Of all the submissions we received for the coloring book, Conor Finnegan's "bird jogging in sneakers" (second spread) was the first to get our vote of approval. And now he writes in to tell me that he's brought a few of his doodles to life, in a self-made, short animated film created in his spare time and some fooling around with the Adobe After Effects puppet pin tool.

No doubt, my favorite part of the video is the sound and expression of despair from the little worm. Thanks for the smile Conor, keep the fun going.

To My Fellow Doodlers

Here is a great little music video by Archive, the song is called System. I really love all the scribbling and the sassy choreography. Enjoy!

Hi Friends-
I am so so honored and excited to share things with you for the next month. DA has been such a huge source of inspiration to me and I just want to give a shout out to my boy OKAT, thank you so much for this amazing opportunity. I really love DA and all of the great artists that I have been exposed to, inspired by and in awe of since DA's conception.

Doodling has always been such an integral part of my life, in fact I don't know what I would do or where I would be today without it. I can remember countless classes in grade school where I would sit and attempt to take really good notes, but then low and behold the words and letters would slowly trickle and meander off into a wild ferocious sea of psychedelic doodles. Smooth

We apologize for the lack of updates this week. We have been immersed in Art Basel goodness.

For now, immerse yourself in this video. It makes absolutely no sense. Lots of morphing of creepy creatures and shapes and colors. The visuals are crazy cool and that pretty much gets the job done for me right now. (Drawings and music by Chad Vangaalen)

Mystery Man

Walter Robot Studios are the folks behind the new Gnarls Barkley video for "Mystery Man". It's a must see. The video has so much depth. Layers upon layers of drawings that build cities, bicycles, buses and flying super heroes. Go along for the ride.

The King of Doodle Animations

Besides being a talented artist, Kristofer Ström is most known for his stop-motion doodle videos, where the art comes to life and interacts with everything from plates and picture frames to hands and music. The above is KOBRA episode 6, but every episode is worth taking the time to watch (especially this one).
