Tumblr of the Week:
Ahmet Özcan Illustrations

I came across the drawings of Ahmet Özcan after he mailed in one of our Doodle Addict postcards and then again when he submitted an illustration for our latest coloring book. My favorite posts are the photos of his awesome white-on-black doodles over his sketchbook. The characters in his drawings are creature feature material, often looking as if they are emerging out of the whiteness to come after you. There's something so interesting about the way he leaves out the body of the monster, leaving much of it up to your imagination to color in. Equal parts playful and creepy, fans of monsters will love his doodles! See more of his images »

Work Made Him Mental

I know absolutely nothing about Ben Thorley except for the following three things. One, he doodles a lot, like everyday all the time and the doodles are mostly of people's faces saying things, sometimes random, sometimes completely relevant. I love them all. Two, he photographs them in weird lighting with odd Hipstamatic photo frames. That part, I'm not a big fan of. Three, he comes from Manchester (UK).

Follow him on Twitter, it's where I discovered him.

The Daily Doodles of Andy Khun

Andy Khun is an illustrator from Seoul, South Korea. I first came across his work on instagram when I was living in Seoul. But it was not until I had moved to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam that I had the chance to meet him in person. The first month I was here he happened to be having an exhibition only a few blocks from my apartment. A dedicated doodler he posts several new drawings every day on his instagram and facebook pages. His illustrations are fun and quirky I hope you enjoy!

Last.fm Doodles

We all have our obsessions. Mine is checking off all the TV episodes I've finished watching on my SeriesGuideX app. Andrea M (aka Something Different) takes things a bit further.

For what looks like months, Andrea has been doodling her weekly listening stats on Last.fm in her sketchbook. What you get are fun visual peek into her life that only one's musical selections can provide.

Tumblr of the Week: Samer Dudels

Abel Jiménez from Spain has been working his magic pen to create these fantastic and fun doodles of Summer fun. My favorite are the ones interacting with colored construction paper. Follow along at his tumblr for plenty more.

Pimp My Post-It

Back up if you thought post-its were just for mundane to-do lists and whatnot. Gangster Doodles has taken office supplies and turned them into some seriously NSFW material. You think you're fancy with your "paper" and "art supplies," meanwhile in just 3 weeks the superfly Aaron Dickenson of G. Doodles has cranked out 174 mesmerizingly sick portraits of thugs and divas doing their thing with just sharpies and markers on a 3X3 post-it note.

Here are some snippets of what you wish your life was like:

Good Dude Aldo Ramos

Aldo Ramos is a good friend I met early in my years moving to Austin. He and I met through the internet, both looking for people to make art with and hang out around town. We ended up being good friends going to music and art shows, doing some street art along the way. Here's an old collaboration (above) from those days.

Aldo's style is a strange mix of super-doodly work with some collage mixed in between. He keeps a super loose style and colorful palette, both of things that I enjoy in artwork. His doodles remind me of the sketching that happens in the margins of your notebook in school, where many an artist find their style in between learning biology and the other courses taught in school.
