Showcase #18: The Essential Draw

Everyone has played the game: what would you take with you if you could only bring along one thing? We all have something, something essential or entirely superfluous, something kinky or sentimental, something cerebral or trashy. Out with it. What's your thing?

In this challenge we ask that you draw something you wouldn't leave behind. Wait! Before you get to it, it MUST be something that could fit in a backpack. You're confined only by the size of your item, nothing else. Deadline May 23rd by 4pm EST, go here for complete submission details »

Draw your thing, your take-along, and win this incredible backpack to hold it. Trust me, you'll want to get your hands on this, because the folks at TOM BIHN design and make each product with tremendous craftsmanship, and all within the U.S.

Showcase #17: Doodle Your Ride

How do you get from A to B and everywhere in between? Showcase #17 challenges you to share your mode of transport -- doodle your ride! Skateboard, segway, scooter, canoe, minivan, sports car, bicycle, whatever! You ride it, you draw it.

Thanks to the folks at Thumbtack Press, and their incredible online store of wall to wall art prints for sponsoring this month's showcase.

Deadline fast approaching (April 25th). Go here for prize and submission details »

Showcase #15: Bookmark Doodles

At Doodlers Anonymous we love books. We love the texture, ink, and creases of the printed word — the tactile deliciousness of thumbing, highlighting and devouring pages. We love books that weigh heavy in our hands.

This drawing challenge is a tribute to traditional paper books and the act of reading. The two winners of this challenge (yes, there will be two!) will have their artwork fashioned into DA bookmarks. We challenge you to doodle the front-side of a bookmark, and we'll use the back to promote and credit you.

Special thanks to the fine folks at PrintRunner.com for sponsoring this showcase. Check them out for all your printing needs, including: business cards, stickers, postcards and more. There's no specific theme this time around, although keeping it book or reading relevant is encouraged. We're just looking for some delicious art and something you'll be proud of. Go and get your doodle on, complete details here (deadline May 31st).

Showcase #14: Egg Draw

In this season of artificial green cellophane and pastel hyperbole comes the kind of challenge you've been waiting for. Leave the bunnies and chicks to the chocolatiers and doodle up some savagely creative eggs. No theme. No constraints. Just you and a carton of (fragile) possibility. You can draw on one eggshell or a dozen, just make sure you only upload one photo.

I'd like to thank the fine folks at DrawTop for sponsoring this ridiculously cool drawing challenge. They make an awesome product by custom cutting adhesive vinyl whiteboards that you can stick practically anywhere, including the backs of electronic devices like laptops and iPads.

Click for prize and participation details. Deadline is Thursday, April 5th, so go on and get to showing off your drawing skills.

Doodle on friends.

Doodlebomb! Has A New Home

After the popularity of our latest drawn challenge, and fueled by the momentum of your amazing submissions, I went ahead and created a Tumblr feed that will live on for as long as we receive more doodles.

Be patient, I am still in the process of porting over all the submissions (over 70) that we've already received, but you can follow the updates and even feel free to participate with another doodle ad hack if you'd like. Find it all at doodle-bomb.tumblr.com and help us turn this into a fun little meme (hashtag #doodlebomb). And of course, feel free to pass the link along to everyone you love.

While on the subject, let me formally announce the winners of the Doodlebomb! showcase challenge. Congrats to Kathleen Dolan with the editor's pick grand prize and cheers to runner-ups Margo and Paz Bernstein, who will each be awarded a DA 2012 Calendar. Thanks again to UPrinting.com for sponsoring such a great doodle challenge.

Showcase #13: Doodlebomb!

Introducing... DA's first showcase challenge of 2012! What's a showcase challenge you ask? Well, it's only the best way to participate and show off your doodle skills. Plus, the winner scores some damn cool prizes.

This is our 13th challenge. Could you be the lucky one? The winner gets a $50 credit at UPrinting.com and a 2012 Doodlers Anonymous Hand-Drawn calendar.

And now for the details. It's simple. Just choose a magazine ad and doodle it up. Have a blast at the expense of the print advertising world. Deadline is Wednesday (February 22nd) at 11am EST, click for complete submissions details »

The October Showdown

It was neck and neck until the closing bell, and when the smoke cleared two submissions were left standing at an even 76 votes.

Unfortunately there can only be one winner and so the team and I were left to make the call. After endless debate, DA's editors have voted Nata Metlukh as the winner of the October Calendar Draw by a vote of 2 to 1.

Congratulations to all our participants! Your submissions were inspiring. Now go on and get ready to draw December, because for our final showcase the editor's at DA will make the final pick from the top three voted submissions.
