Yes, I know this is not doodling. This is drawing (by Tokyo based artist SHOHEI) taken to a whole new level. I've never seen detail and shading done like this using only a ball point pen. Simply amazing. Watch it three or four times, and then share it with everyone you know.

Oh and I strongly suggest you watch this in full screen mode.

Ema's Scrapbook

This will do you some good, I promise.

Press play and take eight minutes of your day to sit back and enjoy the inside of ema's sketchbook as nail-polished finger tips guide you from page to page -- through leaves, space, love, animals, mushrooms, patterns, landscapes and more.

Three Brothers

Cartoon Characters is a collaboration by three Dutton brothers: Mike Dutton (the artist), Henry Dutton (the music creator) and lastly, David Dutton (who master-minded the whole project).

David explains that he started off the project by raiding "all of [Mike's] sketchbooks; getting scans or shooting the more awkward pages" with his Canon 7D camera and that's the great thing about this video, you can see the personality and ever-changing tone in Mike's sketchbook as it gracefully animates frame by frame.

A Pirate's Life for Me

This music video for We Cut Corners by Kijek / Adamski is a must see. I've already watched it three times while waiting for my coffee to brew. The entire two and a half minutes was done with markers on paper, that's it! Well, that, and a whole lot of talent ;)

The Schwarzenegger Trilogy

I just found this video on Vimeo (haha, that rhymed!) by Brainbow and enjoyed it immensely. It's three short hand-drawn 1,600 frame animation composed into one. It's very simply drawn, which I absolutely love, partially colored in with highlighters.

The first video '5 4 3 2...' is a series of continuous Hollywood explosions edited into a simple beat. The second, "Galleria" is a cut from Terminator 2. And the third, which is my favorite (and starts at 2:25), is an original gangsta rap with lyrics provided by the Governator himself and arranged by Harry McGowan.

Get your headphones on. Enjoy the pops of color, fun sound effects and some of Arnold's infamous lines.

I was planning on doing a post about someone else today, but then I found this amazing little film by Aaron Wendel on Vimeo. Immediately I forgot what I was planning to write today and just drowned in this beautiful animation. Now, as soon as I finish this post, I'm going back on Aaron's profile to watch the rest of his work. See you there!

Yellow, yellow! Nice little film by Caleb Wood with a beautiful animation and a perfect atmosphere for this warm summer days. Gentle meadow in all its simplicity, and a little creature that explores it... Just beautiful!
