Giveaway: 'This Is Not a Book' by Keri Smith

If you don't know Keri Smith, then you don't know inspiration, or should I say motivation. Her work as an artist goes well beyond just skilled doodles. Keri has authored a handful of books that focus on getting you off your arse and out into the world to make, create or wreck yourself into existence. Her latest book titled "This Is Not a Book," will have you questioning everything a book can be and asking that you answer it by bringing your own copy to life.

We are fortunate to have secured two signed copies to giveaway, but winning one won't be as easy as leaving a comment below. We ask that you grab a book that you love or hate and make art out of it. No guidelines. You can sharpie the front, back and spine or put it in a blender and make it into a collage -- the options are endless. Don't think too hard about it. Right now, just walk away from your computer, crack your head open and create.

Document the results, send us the photos (editor AT doodlersanonymous DOT com) and you may just win. You have 10 days (giveaway will end October 31st). Keri and DA will select two winners and post all the submissions on the site soon after. Have fun and good luck.

Results are in!!! We have our winners and the submissions are exceptional. Click to see for yourself

Giveaway: So Far So Good

About three weeks ago I was lucky enough to receive a little zine in the mail, filled to the brim with doodles by Vaughn Fender. He put the booklet together and dedicated it to everyone who follows his work (I'm so glad we do). It's a bit over 30 pages long and gets the mood going with a genuine and sincere forward by Chris Piascik. He only made 30 of these beauties and they seem to be all spoken for, except one. He made sure to save the last copy for a lucky DA reader. The first person to guess the calendar date that I received the zine in the mail, wins! (DA twitter followers have the advantage) good luck. UPDATE: We have a winner! Read comments for details.

Oh and Vaughn, I hope you don't mind but my daughter went at your zine with an arsenal of markers and crayons. The following pictures are courtesy of her colored attack

The Winning Drawings

After more than 140 submissions, two phrases were chosen and then hand-drawn by Chris Piascik. This was, by far, one of my favorite giveaways on the site and I love the results. Many, many thanks to Chris and to all of you for participating.

And of course, congratulations to our winners: Zelig (left) and Kiera Zitelman (right). Your drawings are on their way, see them at full-size

And to the rest of you, be sure to subscribe to our RSS and twitter feed to be the first to know about upcoming giveaways. You can now also find us on facebook.

Giveaway: Jolby Zine

The very gracious and talented Jolby (the collaborative works of Josh Kenyon and Colby Nichols) released their first zine just a few short weeks ago. It's titled "&1: Everyday Shenanigans."

Jolby lets us wander through their brain. What we find in there is a healthy dose of insanity - one-eyed monsters, moustached Englishmen, a sasquatch with a drinking problem and gallons of caffeine.

For a chance to win, you have to do one very simple thing. Comment below with a little nonsense of your own. Tell us an absurd fact about yourself. The first thing that pops into your head. Make it random, make it awkward, make it fun. Here, I'll start: When I like something, I say "it's the best thing in the world." And I mean it. Until I find the next best thing in the world.

We will randomly select one winner (one entry per person please). Comments will close on Monday, Aug. 31 at 4 PM Eastern.
We have a winner! Out of the hat came the name Sara whose random nonsense was that she'd "...rather get trapped in an elevator for days than ride an escalator." Congrats Sara and thanks to everyone who entered. Now we know how weird you all are :)

If you can't wait to get your hands on one, you can find copies of the zine at Artful Goods along with other delicious treats by Jolby.

Giveaway: Chris Piascik Custom Print

A few days back Chris Piascik wrote me saying that he'd like to offer up something to all the lovely readers of Doodlers Anonymous. I got back to him with a ridiculous idea and he said yes. I told you he was nice.

But this, my friends, is different than anything we've done before. This giveaway hasn't even been created yet. See, Chris here has a beautiful way of laying text down on paper and this time around he'll draw the words of two winning readers.

So for the next few days you have the opportunity to win a custom, one-of-a-kind drawing. Leave a comment below with a short sentence or phrase and Chris will pick his (two) favorite, draw it up and ship it to you.

Please note: Comments close Monday the 24th, at 4pm.
UPDATE: Comments are now closed. An amazing 144 comments. Thanks to all of you that participated. Chris will make his selects and drawings soon and we'll keep you all posted!

They call themselves "the happy mag for kids," but that's just a lie, one big cover up. It's really of course: the happy, colorful, illustrated, quirky, character-filled, page-turning, content-driven mag for everyone. And we're giving away: one spare, hot-off the presses Summer 09 issue.

Interested? Leave a comment below with your favorite summer read as a kid, and we'll randomly draw a winner this Friday.

UPDATE: ANORAK has upped the ante. Whomever submits a doodle of their favorite summer read, is in the running for a one-year subscription (4 beautiful issues). Send doodles to editor {at} doodlersanonymous {dot} com

Details: ANORAK's Summer 09 issue is almost 80 pages long with contributions by Jeremyville, Marcus Walters, Jon Burgerman, Tad Carpenter, Julia Staite, Simon Wild & Rob Flowers.
