And The Winners Are...

We are delighted with the responses to the scribble train giveaway question (who you would most like to sit next to on a train?). They are so good. If you haven't yet, go read them.

Of the 54 names, we randomly pulled two. Congratulations to Cheryl Smith and Julia Smelansky, both of whom are doodle addicts themselves (credit the above images to them). Your books are on the way. To everyone else, cross your fingers there's another print run.

Giveaway: We're A Happy Family

As my guest blogging here comes to the end of its happy cycle, I cannot believe how fast this month went by and how much fun it’s been posting for you DA readers. I feel lucky and glad to have been so warmly welcomed by the DA family and as a token of my gratitude, as Papa (above) suggested to me, a giveaway would be most suiting to celebrate the good times I’ve had 'round here and to thank you all for the love, generous feedback and endless bubbles of inspiration.

So speaking of families, a while back I was delighted to be invited by the super talented Estibaliz Hernandez to design a set of four cards along with another seven international artists to form the ‘We are a happy family’ children’s card game. It was such a great project to be involved in, I enjoyed the process so much and the end result is truly fabulous. Read on for giveaway details »

And the winner is...

We are in love with Sam Pierpoint's doodled shoes and it is obvious that you guys are, too. After reviewing your submissions, we have finally picked a winner.

Congratulations are in order to Beatriz Morales Ramos, for doodling on a paper dress. Thank you for your efforts. It definitely made us smile. You now have the perfect shoes to go with your dress. Sam's only request is that you now photograph yourself sporting the dress and shoes on together.

Thank you to all the participants, for your creativity and your strange imaginations. See all the submissions here »

Giveaway: Shoes by Sam Pierpoint

You know the phrase, "the work should speak for itself" - well, I think it was intended for Sam Pierpoint.

If you are not familiar with her illustrations and intricate 3-D worlds, you can reacquaint yourself here. Now for the bonus, the endless exclamation points, the frosting on the cake: Sam is giving away a pair of custom-doodled high heels here on Doodlers Anonymous. Not only did she deliver something incredible, but she delivered in only a matter of days.

When I received the photos of the shoes, I asked her if we could skip the giveaway all together so I could keep them for myself. It was a fail on my part.

So to win these shoes, you're going to have to work a little harder, but in a fun way. Tell us why you want them. Whatever your reason is; doodle it on your hand, photograph it, and share it with us. Most importantly, have fun.

Send us your photo by email (editor AT doodlersanonymous DOT com) by Tuesday February 16th at 4pm EST. We, along with Sam, will pick the person who makes us look twice.

Thank you all so much for the giveaway submissions. We received 15 body doodles and will pick a winner this week. Stay tuned.

Giveaway: Farofa Nation 'The Mind of Tao' Tee (Limited Edition)

Recently I was asked to design a t-shirt for Farofa Nation, a t-shirt company with a mission: to help the street kids of Brazil and lead them to a better life. I was happy to be a part of this collective who are simply good people with good hearts. (Read more about their mission here.)

The above is the t-shirt I designed for them and we are giving it away here at DA. It's a woman's tee (Boys, if you're interested, we don't discriminate.) printed on American Apparel, slightly sheer, sporty racerback.

Interested? All you have to do is leave a comment below and you are in the running. Comments will stay open until Thursday (the 28th @ 5pm EST) and then we'll randomly pull a name. Good luck.

We have our winner. Congratulations to Anika and thanks again to Farofa Nation for the great giveaway.

Junk Doodle/uberkraaft Winner

It was a blessed exercise thought up by uberkraaft: to simply drop your inhibitions of drawing on a new page, in an effort to get you to doodle on something that would otherwise be thrown out. So many of you jumped on the prompt to do just that and the submissions came rolling in (see them all).

One after the other impressed us, but the above doodle by Jake Chancellor stole the show. Jake is 13 years old and lives in Barnet, Hertfordshire in the UK. He sent in the above pictures with the simple words, "My mum was going to throw away a kitchen chair so I doodled on it."

Congratulations, Jake. Your skills are so impressive for your age (any age for that matter) and we love that your effort was exactly what the challenge was all about. You just won yourself a custom drawing by uberkraaft and the kudos from all of us here at Doodlers Anonymous.

Don't go just yet. The other submissions are all so fun and improvised. Take note of the egg shells, sun glasses, hand-drawings and even masking tape that were re-used as a drawing medium. See all submissions »

Win an Uber-Doodle

Sometimes I'm overcome with fear when I sit down to draw. I open my beautiful Moleskine sketchbook and stare at its perfect antique ivory pages and there I am... stuck... I either have no idea what to do, or more likely, so many ideas that I can't settle on one and start drawing.

What?! You've been there?! I don't seem to have a problem just doodling, with or without a fully formed idea, but there's something about trying to work on a precious or pristine surface that can be a real obstacle to creativity. To get around it, my favorite remedy is the tried and tested no-good, down and dirty "junk doodle"... Grab an envelope, a direct mailer, a magazine, lump of wood, pair of old shoes... well anything... and get doodling! There is something so pure about working on something that is basically valueless to begin with... There's no pressure for the work to succeed so the doodling gets looser and more creative - it can become practically zen-like.

With it being one of my favorite doodle ways, I'd like to encourage everyone to have a bash at a "junk doodle" - Incentive? (ahem)
