Coloring Book, Vol. 2

Some of my favorite moments working on Doodlers Anonymous is when we extend ourselves beyond the internet to produce something unique and tangible and born from the art of our community.

This week we published our second coloring book. I am thrilled and I'm pretty sure you will be too. I promise that you've never seen a coloring book quite like it. With every page turn you'll discover another style of drawing by a different artist. 60 of them to be exact.

It's now for sale at (get yourself or your best friend a copy). It will soon appear at a few boutique shops around the globe too. If you'd like to carry it in your shop or know somewhere that should, drop us a line.

Much love and respect to our stellar community of artists and aficionados. It's been a pleasure hosting all of you.

Hey Doodlers! Doodle for Blik

Blik, the makers of the finest wall decals around, are constantly on the lookout for doodlers and illustrators to work with on a number of custom projects. Past clients include Google, Threadless, IGN, and the Pasadena Art Center (just to name a few), so this makes for an incredible opportunity for any illustrator with a sweet portfolio.

Interested? Submit your website link to [email protected] and they'll get back to you, if you and a project make a good fit.

Now go and get inspired by checking out some of Blik's past custom work:

September's Guest Contributor:
Lee Crutchley

You know him as the author of Quoteskine, a book of drawn quotes, lyrics and clever word play, and for the month of September you'll know him as our blog's guest contributor.

Lee is an up and coming illustrator in the UK that's tirelessly working to "make it" as a freelancer. He runs an incredibly beloved tumblr blog, but plans to step a bit out of that role this month to post on Doodlers Anonymous about the people and things that inspire him.

You can stalk him on twitter, visit him at or simply welcome him to the site in the comments below.

It's like the classifieds, for Etsy.

It was almost a year ago today that we decided to focus on developing something to help independent artists and craftsmen gain exposure for the things that they make. Nothing was set in stone, but the basic concept and name. We called it Fish Indie and we chose to build it around the largest online community of independent sellers, Etsy.

We all heart Etsy, and have always been fans of its supportive community and the quality of products they create, but like anyone who has an Etsy shop will tell you, getting your products seen is the hard part. Our solution? To build a network of great independent blogs that will carry a banner-like classified of your Etsy product. Currently that means your banner will rotate across Doodlers Anonymous and fellow blogs, Illustration Friday, Brown Paper Bag and Pikaland. We also wanted to make it incredibly simple and affordable to join, so the ad is generated automatically using your product's url and costs less than the price of a movie ticket. We've been live now (by-invite only) for 4 weeks and the response has been phenomenal. You can see the ad yourself by taking a quick look into the top-right column of our site. It pulls in a different product upon every refresh.

If you sell your stuff on Etsy, here’s where you can sign-up for an exclusive invite. We are lovers of anything hand-made, hand-drawn and independently created (or crafted) and we look forward to growing the blogs that carry Fish Indie in the weeks ahead.

August's Guest Contributor:
Sara E. Barnes

For the month of August we are welcoming fellow blogger and illustrator Sara E. Barnes as a guest contributor here on DA. Sara is the creator and voice behind the wonderfully curated website Brown Paper Bag and is working towards her MFA (Illustration Practice) at the Maryland Institute College of Art.

Sara's own work is an amazing mix of color and collage of scraps, ink, paint, and embroidery. I'm fascinated by how the loose pieces of cut paper come together to reveal such a complete and controlled final artwork. I've gathered a few of my favorite works by her here to introduce you.

Anorak Publishes the Winning Drawings

I was so happy to get my hands on the Summer edition of Anorak magazine. What an incredible issue: First, it starts off with a banging cover by Jack Teagle. Then it's page after page of spectacular illustrations and stories by folks like Lesley Barnes, Anat Sifri and Cachete Jack, with principal illustrations by Matthew Bromley.

And finally it ends on two full spreads of black and white drawings from the Doodlers Anonymous community. There's no doubt kids will be eager to color these pages in. Congratulations again to all of you for participating and playing along, and special thanks to Anorak for the incredible effort to always publish beautiful content.
