A Zine from One Sheet of Paper

I just had 20 minutes of the most unexpected fun, courtesy of Corey Thompson of Super Duper. With a scissor and one sheet of paper, I was able to create an eight-page zine and full page poster with the beautiful art of Chris Dent, Andy Council, Lauren Albert, Corey Thompson, Adam Niemara and Will Bryant. All for free!

So easy that I even documented the entire process. Click for pics

My Pen is Better Than Yours

Some of us are addicted to doodling and some of us are addicted to the tools we doodle with. I discovered the website penaddict.com a few months ago and find it amazing how well the author of the site (@dowdyism) can break-down every single nuance of how a pen feels, writes, and even lays the ink down on paper. He recently reviewed my favorite pen with kind words.

If you have the slightest crush on a pen, go read what a real pen addict thinks and you'll see it in a whole new light.

Update: Comment below or twitter us your favorite pen to doodle with?

365 Days of Monsters

Voz is a self proclaimed doodler. In fact, she "gets antsy and grumpy and unpleasant to be around unless" she is doodling. The compulsion has led to 365 Monsters, a once-a-day mayhem of monster doodles. So far Voz has managed to draw 100 of them. Will she last? Scope out Voz's blog to cheer her on.

Alterations

I love this project because it requires you to get off the computer and go a little wild with your imagination and favorite pen. Project #7 from booooooom! asks you to alter a magazine cover with your tool(s) of choice, so long as you do it by hand. The above work is by Cory Gibbons. See more submissions here and do one yourself. I did.

Shobo Shobo

No words can describe my joy when I discovered the work of SHOBOSHOBO. Besides the quirky drawings filled in bright color (many times landing themselves on sweaters and tees), you'll be lost in the hundreds of doodles they've uploaded to their site. It's like doodles gone wild and I almost kept this gem to myself.

Now go smile. There's a genuine freedom and fun in their work.

Repeat Pattern Repeat

This here is an obvious one for DA. We love Julia Rothman. We love patterns. And we love anything hand drawn. Click this link for an easy to follow, step-by-step tutorial showing how to make a repeat pattern (without even a computer) by Julia Rothman.

If any of you give it a try, we'd love to see the results, send to: editor {at} doodlersanonymous {dot} com

The Road Less Travelled

What strikes me the most about the cleverly written post-it notes left to their fate in public places, drawn by "writer", is not just the message and beautiful hand-drawn lettering, but where the post-it notes are actually placed. Gotta love "Listen to your inner voice" posted inside a phone booth, while the "Take the road less traveled" note is affixed to a multi-directional sign at a public park. I dare you to look at just one and not want to see them all.
