Soft Sharp Lines

Cella makes beautiful collage allegories that warm you up instantly. I canít remember someone that made clean scissor lines so soft, like she does. Somehow she succeeded to erase all coldness from the collage technique and make her stories full of light and her creatures full of life. I would love to take one of her collages outside with me, on some nice meadow, and just watch how light and shadows reflects on it.

Feeding the Forest Ghost

I love doing walls and especially if they are in some old, deserted ambient. So I was amazed the other day when I found this beautiful collaboration between Otecki and Szum.

For me this is a perfect example of making something that can at the same time live a life of its own and be in complete harmony with its surroundings. Jump to their flickr pages and find more amazing works from these two guys!

Good Bye Dinosaurs!

I love simple ideas with great effect. Well, dans le ciel tout va bien (in heaven everything is fine) made that great effect on me the other day when I found his post-it drawings, especially his "Good bye dinosaurs!" series. His combination of strong, dramatic scenes with the fragility of little post-it papers made me remember something I heard a few years ago about how big formats are more intimate than the little ones, because your whole body can fit in them. It's a nice theory, but today, I prefer these post-its more.

One more thing: dans le ciel tout va bien will make a book out of his post-it collection for "fais le toi mÍme", a french festival of edition, music, etc. at Lille in September.

Warm and Playful

Yellow, yellow! Nice little film by Caleb Wood with a beautiful animation and a perfect atmosphere for this warm summer days. Gentle meadow in all its simplicity, and a little creature that explores it... Just beautiful!

The Chest of Fun

In Paul Loubert's chest you will find all of your childhood stories and much more. All of your old video games could be there too.

It's a crazy world of palms and funny creatures and it could be really fun to see Paul's creatures animated. I already see them moving all over my walls in some funny pixel animations.

Lovely Lines

Clean and nice lines from Gwendoline Desnoyers take me back to simplicity of Giotto and Brueghel. She has manage to express so much with so little and her use of empty space is such a lovely thing to see. Using the same simple lines, Gwendoline also makes beautiful collages with a gentle use of colors Ė just enough to make you feel the elusive space around her characters and shapes. Now, take a look at this wonderful works and try not to like it.

She also has a nice blog where you can find even more amazing works from this young artist.
