Open Call / Coloring Book Vol. 4

Once a year we open up the flood gates and collect submissions for our annual coloring book.

For those of you that are new to Doodlers Anonymous, this is one of our more popular times of the year, as our coloring books are unlike anything you've seen before. They feature 60 artists from around the world - some fresh novices, others seasoned veterans, all of whom share a love for the hand-drawn.

We want everyone to participate, so grab your pens and sharpies and get to it. If you're interested in participating, we've set an aggressive deadline that is fast approaching (October 7th, 2014), go here for the complete details »

To celebrate the open call, we are discounting a combo-pack of our volume one and two coloring books by 15% (shop here).

Member Spotlight: Lauren Salgado

This is pretty cool. I recently learned that a doodle addict I follow on Instagram has been a member of the Doodlers Anonymous community since she was 14 years-old. She's now 19. Wow, I often forget I've been running this website that long. She writes in to tell me she's been obsessed with designing and drawing since, and that becomes quite clear when you look at her sketchbook that's filled with pages of lines, patterns and shapes.

What I like best is that each doodle looks like it could easily translate into a textile print, for use in home or apparel design.

Lauren, thanks for being a fan for so long and keep building on your talent. You can follow her over on Tumblr or Instagram.

Sketchbook Pages to Get Lost In

I know nothing formal about Tanxuan, except that he's from Shenzhen, China and that he's got an incredible talent for drawing, with some of the most beautiful sketchbook pages I've ever laid my eyes on.

His Instagram is a constant feed of jaw dropping inspiration with drawings ranging from seductive women to odd foods to incredible overlapping cityscapes and the people within them.

Stylistic Portraits with a Ballpoint Pen

I discovered the drawings of Milton Lozada while browsing through the artists on the Sktchy app (which by the way has been growing into a really great community). Milton is a tattoo artist working out of South Florida, whose style of drawing really came across to me in the portraits he inks with a simple ballpoint pen. To me, they all seem to be referencing a future we have yet to come across.

He's got a nice collection of work to be seen over on his Instagram feed as well.

Her Life with a Little Bit of Fiction

Paintings, drawings, words. All of it. I'm in love with Herikita's art. It speaks truths in soft colors and is quite often made-up of angled homes and rooftops, pets and insects, women and men, all of whom are sharing their awkward feelings and I just want more and more of it.

Her bio alone was enough to make me smile. Here's a small bit of my favorite part, "I work at midnight like Cinderella’s mice, almost always, when everyone is sleeping and something pops up in my mind.."

It's such a great visual.
