Hello, my name is Jolby,
and I am a doodle addict.
A WEEK WITH JOLBY:DAY 6
Another Tangible internal project were new business card designs to facilitate the new hires and some new branding that Josh and I developed. The cards were to be printed as shells and then stamped onto the blank-back with custom name and icon stamps. We went nuts with the icon ideas...
Since our latest solo show here in Portland, we've been scheming on the next one and wanted to pull in the talents of the lovely Ashley Forrette, a Portland photographer who is wife to our good friend Chris Forrette. The show will combine photos, illustration, and texture, but we needed to experiment with the styles first and make sure the show was going to work. I was on a wizard-kick and have been drawing wizards non-stop. We wanted to do a wizard's tower in the middle of Ashley's photo of a forest as a test. Here's a sneak peak at our experiments:
Bert and Ernie. Batman and Robin. Cheech and Chong. Josh and Colby.
Collaborative teams must be able to compliment one another. And who does that better than Josh Kenyon and Colby Nichols? We here at DA love collaborations and are big fans of Jolby. These guys may very well be sharing the same brain - filled with patterns, textures and nonsense.
So how do they do it? For their feature, they agreed to document an entire week of Jolby. Here is an exclusive look at their amazing work, a whole lotta doodles and some moustache humor thrown in just for good measure.
