Hello, my name is Jolby,
and I am a doodle addict.
A WEEK WITH JOLBY:DAY 1
Josh and I have been working together since 2004 on personal projects outside of our design day-jobs. It was only until last year that I was hired on at Tangible Worldwide to work alongside Josh as an Art Director / Illustrator team.
During the day we get to do some fun stuff for larger clients (and work with the awesome Tangible Team) and at night we do art, prints, personal projects and smaller client projects. One of those clients is a food cart here in Portland called Brunch Box. They needed a tee design and we started working.
Brunch Box has some seriously good burgers and we wanted to play off that. The first idea started really randomly; Josh had the idea of a cowboy and my mind went immediately to the burger being a cowboy hat. A few type experiments later and we had a comp. The second idea was a burger box exploding with "magic." We sent them to the Brunch Crew to get approval on one of the two concepts.
After the work day, we went and played racquetball at some courts near the office. Josh and I started playing only a month or so ago, but are seriously hooked.
Bert and Ernie. Batman and Robin. Cheech and Chong. Josh and Colby.
Collaborative teams must be able to compliment one another. And who does that better than Josh Kenyon and Colby Nichols? We here at DA love collaborations and are big fans of Jolby. These guys may very well be sharing the same brain - filled with patterns, textures and nonsense.
So how do they do it? For their feature, they agreed to document an entire week of Jolby. Here is an exclusive look at their amazing work, a whole lotta doodles and some moustache humor thrown in just for good measure.
