Recently I told you that I have been making daily collages and drawings
on sheets of graph paper. On one of these recent days, my niece watched me as I cut out letters and drew countless lines. I asked her if she wanted one of the sheets of graph paper for herself. Her eyes widened in happiness. She quickly grabbed a pencil and started drawing a flower with petals and asked if it was pretty. I said, "Yes, but I have an idea. Take out the circle from the middle of the flower. Continue to draw the petals all the way to the end of the page. When you're done, color each petal a different color and never let the same color touch." It was a lot of work but she wasn't discouraged.
And then my eyes widened once I saw what she had done. The above is an amazing 8.5" x 11" doodle by an amazing little 12 year old named Sommer.
