Giveaway: Anorak Magazine

They call themselves "the happy mag for kids," but that's just a lie, one big cover up. It's really of course: the happy, colorful, illustrated, quirky, character-filled, page-turning, content-driven mag for everyone. And we're giving away: one spare, hot-off the presses Summer 09 issue.

My favorite summer read as a kid was The Giver by Lois Lowry. My favorite summer read as an adult is Post Office by Charles Bukowski.

My favourite summer read as a kid was Harriet the Spy by Louise Fitzhugh. I really identified with that little girl filling up notebooks with thoughts (and still do), and it was realistic and relatable while still feeling like an adventure. And it had a good moral. Definitely made for a book that's stayed with me into adulthood.

i always loved my father's dragon. i would revisit it many times over. i made the dragon when i was in elementary school out of a milk carton, painted it, and i kept it until i went to college, when i revisited it again, i re-illustrated the cover, and again this past year, i digitally colored in the pages. i love those books! i always wanted my own dragon!!!

My favorite summer reading was anything by Richard Scarry. I had a Busytown CD-ROM game that I was obsessed with, but nothing beat those books.

I must have read it half a dozen times as a kid... also I keep up the tradition of reading Charles Dickens - 'A Christmas Carol' each Christmas.

I'v just sent my doodle in. My favourite summer read was and still is "The Adventures of Huck Finn" The movie was just on recently too and I love that aswell :D

My father read to me The Dog Who Wouldn't Be, an autobiographic retrospective of the author's, Farley Mowat, boyhood dog. This dog was pretty outrageous. I remember my dad struggling to get through the sad parts.

When I was little, I absolutely loved The Suitcase Kid by Jacqueline Wilson - I was a big Jacqueline Wilson fan in general really, I loved all her books but The Suitcase Kid was always my favourite. I must have read it about 50 times - especially over summer cos I'd have the time to just sit and read the whole book all at once! I loved Nick Sharratt's illustrations too back then. :]

I loved The Red Planet, by Robert Heinlein, and A Wrinkle in Time, by Madeleine L'Engle. Even earlier Harriet the Spy was a book I read over and over.

I read all the time, not only in summer, so I really can't distinguish summer reads. I read all the books by Karl May that I could get my hands on. I also liked to read mysteries, especially by Agatha Christie or the Father Brown mysteries.

I love "Edie Sedgewick: An American Girl" for summer reading. It's perfect for lazy afternoons as it isn't too rigorous yet it is history.
